Examination

Trademark applications are examined as to registrability and existence of prior rights. Opposition to published trademarks can be made within 90 days from publication.

Classification

International Classification for goods and services. A separate application has to be filed for each class. to be filed for each class.

Duration

A registration is for 10 years and renewable for similar periods. A 6 months grace period is allowed for renewals.

Use

Non-use for 5 years following registration makes the registration vulnerable to cancellation.

Assignment

A registration can be assigned but with goodwill and business concerned.

Licensing

Recording of a license is mandatory.

Infringement

Any infringement or unauthorized use of a registered trademark is punishable under the provisions of the current trademark law.
