The GCC Patent Office and Japan Patent Office Sign a Memorandum of Cooperation

The GCC Patent Office and Japan Patent Office Signed a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at strengthening the GCC patent system. This comes in light of the existing partnership between the two sides in regards to patents.
The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Mr Abdullah AlMoqhim, Director General of the GCC Patent Office, and Mr Kunihiko Shimano, Deputy Commissioner of the JPO. The signing was during the meeting held between the two sides on Thursday, 13 December 2018 at the GCC headquarters in Riyadh, with the participation of a number of officials on both sides.
Mr Abdullah AlMoqhim said that the memorandum of cooperation comes to enhance the ongoing partnership between both sides; which will last for five years, and allows the GCC Patent Office to benefit from the Japanese expertise and patent examiners to develop its performance and work mechanisms; and contribute to meet the requirements of training national competencies working in the field, and qualify them for excellence in patent examination, especially that Japan Patent Office ranks among the most advanced offices around the world in this field.
