Kuwait now accepting patent applications including national phase PCT applications

Kuwait deposited its instrument of accession to the PCT on 9 June 2016, and has became the 149th Contracting State of the PCT. As of 9 September 2016, Kuwait was bound by the PCT. Due to its internal preparation for PCT, Kuwait stopped receiving national patent applications and were advising applicants to file GCC Patent application, to which Kuwait is a member state. On 27 March 2018 Kuwait has formally started accepting patent applications including national phase PCT applications.

Due to its membership in PCT, patent applications filed under PCT on or after 9 September 2016 will automatically include the designation of Kuwait.
